January catch-up - how's your year going so far?
We’re already into week 3 of term - January seems to be flying by! Some might see January as a bit of a bleak month after the excitement of December, but after a relaxing break we’re enjoying being back in class and loving our dancers' energy this year.
January seems like an ideal time for a new start and new goals. How are you doing with yours? Getting fitter, being more organised or managing stress are common choices. Maybe it's trying a new skill, or developing an existing one. At SIUD we pride ourselves on encouraging our dancers to continually challenge themselves. This year, our more experienced hip hoppers might be working on new tricks (we love handstands, cartwheels and helicopters!). For our littlest dancers, maybe it's a balance on one leg or pencil roll.
We love that it's not just physical skills that can be challenged. Seeing our dancers develop in so many other areas is incredibly rewarding. Finding the courage to try something new, or having the confidence to demonstrate a move to the class, are also goals for many children. On top of that is the development of social skills: learning to take turns, listen to others, and work together, all whilst having fun with dancing friends!
We’re so excited to see what this year brings for our dancers. At SIUD we love welcoming new children (and grown ups!) to class and sharing our dance passion with them. So, if you're looking to try something new, maybe a dance class would be ideal! Check out our timetable for our full range of classes.
